CHRISTIAN W.E. HAUB
Mr. Haub is Chairman and President of Emil Capital Partners. As a member of the fifth generation, he serves as Co-Chief Executive Officer of the Tengelmann Group, Mülheim, Germany, one of the world’s largest family-owned and diversified retailing companies.
He is the former Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. (A&P). Based in Montvale, N.J., A&P is one of the oldest and most revered food retailers in the United States, founded in 1859.
Prior to joining his family’s business, Mr. Haub spent several years in investment banking with Dillon Read in New York.
He is a graduate of the University of Economics and Business Administration in Vienna, Austria, where he also earned a Master’s degree in Social and Economic Sciences.
In addition to managing his business interests, Mr. Haub serves on several boards of directors; at Metro, Inc., a leading Canadian supermarket chain based in Montreal; Boston College (Boston, Mass.), and the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto ( Ontario, Canada).
Mr. Guldin is Chief Executive Officer of Emil Capital Partners, with a background of over 15 years of experience working with entrepreneurs and family enterprises.
Prior to joining Emil Capital, Mr. Guldin held senior executive positions in corporate finance, human resources and real estate; previously serving as Senior Executive Vice President & Co-Chief Financial Officer of the Tengelmann Group, Chief Financial Officer of E. Breuninger, and Chief Strategy Officer of The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. (A&P). He also held senior consultant positions with CSC Index and PA Consulting.
Mr. Guldin holds a Master’s degree in Psychology, an MBA and a Ph.D. in Economics and Business Administration, and has been a visiting faculty member at several European universities including the European Business School, the University of Dusseldorf, the University of Stuttgart, HSG and the University St. Gallen in Switzerland.
Mr. Heer is an Operating Partner, bringing over 30 years of retail management, sourcing and gourmet food marketing experience to Emil Capital Partners.
With his experience in food project management, and the world-wide sourcing, selection, marketing and sales of fine foods, Mr. Heer has developed successful retail concepts for such renowned food-sellers as The Food Emporium (U.S.) where he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager, Kaufhof Warenhaus (Germany), Globus (Switzerland) and Harrods of London where he was in charge of the world known Food Halls.
A native of Switzerland, Mr. Heer was educated in Zürich and holds a Master’s degree in Sales and Marketing.
Marcel Bens is a Principal at Emil Capital Partners, and is a board director or a board observer of several of Emil Capital’s portfolio companies. Mr. Bens previously worked at Patriarch Partners, a multi-billion dollar distressed private equity firm in New York City, and at Pottinger, a strategic and financial advisory firm in Sydney, Australia. Prior to that, he served in various key strategic and operational roles at Daimler AG (formerly DaimlerChrysler AG) in the United States, Germany and South Africa.
Mr. Bens holds a joint master’s degree in mechanical engineering and economics from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany and an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York. He is trilingual in German, English and Dutch.
Mr. Zverev is a Principal at Emil Capital Partners.
Mr. Zverev previously worked for Rothschild, advising client firms on mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance issues. He was also affiliated with The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. (A&P), working with senior management in the development and execution of major corporate financing initiatives.
He holds an MBA from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester. Prior to Business School Mr. Zverev served in the Fleet Marine Force (FMF) of the United States Navy.
Mr. Tswamuno is an Associate at Emil Capital Partners.
Mr. Tswamuno previously worked in Investment Banking at Credit Suisse Securities in New York, advising clients in the Financial Services Industry. While at Credit Suisse, he also worked in Business Development and Principal Investing, assisting senior management in the identification and acquisition of strategic business opportunities.
Mr. Tswamuno holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Mathematics from Middlebury College and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
